Which are the best museums/ art galleries in new Zealand?

    Mine are ( not in any particular order ) –

    Kaikoura museum, looks like a big craypot.

    Hokitika museum now back in the beautiful Carnegie building.

    Te Papa in Wellington.

    Dargaville museum in Northland.

    The Kauri museum in Northland.

      The Papa, Settlers Museum Howick, Opitiki museum set up by the people of the town. There are also many small museums in out of the way towns/settlements all over NZ. Some have wonderful pictures/letters/artifacts that tell the story of the town etc.

        Te papa is fantastic, although slightly different I loved weta workshop tour too. Also Helena Bay Art Gallery & Cafe. Great display of beautiful Kiwi talent. Good food and awesome view.  The art gallery in Dunedin is also great. Had a lovely chat with the staff re Picasso as my father in law was friends with him in Malaga as a child.
